Environmental Commitment

Maine is beautiful and we want to keep it that way! R.F. Jordan & Sons is committed to protecting and restoring the environment one job at a time. Our equipment paired with our trained employees allows for us to provide the most efficient service we can.

All of our newer dump trucks and excavators are equipped with the Certified Clean Idle systems. This equipment meets a stringent nitrogen oxide emission standard. We are committed to making a meaningful change to our environment in every way that we can.

We have taken steps to make our shop and office more energy efficient by replacing lights to LED, as well as, replacing windows and doors. We have drastically reduced our electricity and heat usage.

In 2013 we won the Build Maine Award for the removal of the Great Works Dam that runs across the Penobscot River from Old Town to Bradley.

  • “This was an especially significant cultural and ecological project for the Penobscot Nation because it is an integral part of the overall restoration of the River. The original plan called for removal in two phases over two construction seasons, but R.F. Jordan presented an innovative plan that allowed for completion in one season while also cutting down on trucking costs and the cost of cofferdam materials and riprap.” (AGC Maine, 2013)
